Vehicle GPS trackers in Qatar: which one fits your fleet

A vehicle tracker is only useful if it stays fitted, reports reliably and gives you data you will actually look at. We supply and install Jimi IoT vehicle trackers across Qatar for fleets of every size, and the choice usually comes down to three practical questions: how quickly does it need to be fitted, does it need to be hidden, and do you need engine data as well as location.

Plug-in OBD trackers

The VL512 and VL502 push into the diagnostic port under the dashboard and start reporting within a minute. They suit passenger cars, staff vehicles and short-term deployments where cutting into the wiring is not wanted. The VL502 adds vehicle data such as VIN, engine speed and accumulated mileage, and scores dangerous driving behaviour, which makes it the better choice for insurance telematics and for fleets that want to coach drivers.

Hardwired trackers

The VL103M and JM-VL01 are wired to permanent power and concealed inside the vehicle. Nothing is visible, nothing can be unplugged at a service station, and the installation survives heavy commercial use. The VL103M adds an external buzzer output, useful for locating a vehicle in a large yard and as a deterrent. This is the standard choice for rental fleets, trucks, buses and any vehicle driven by someone other than its owner.

What you get on the platform

Every tracker we fit reports to Tracksolid Pro: live location, trip history, geofences with entry and exit alerts, speed alerts, idling reports, driver behaviour scoring and scheduled reports by email. We configure it with you at installation and train your supervisors, because a platform nobody understands is a subscription nobody uses.

Installation and support in Qatar

Our technicians fit the devices, test every unit on the platform before the vehicle is released, and handle relocations when a vehicle is sold or replaced. Devices carry warranty, and faults are dealt with by the same team that installed them.

Not what you need?

If the asset has no power of its own, look at asset trackers. If you need to see the road as well as the route, look at dash cameras. If it is a person rather than a vehicle, look at personal trackers. Full background on how a fleet system is designed and installed is on our vehicle tracking page.

Questions fleets ask before buying trackers

How long does a vehicle tracker last?

A correctly installed tracker generally serves for years rather than months. The parts that age are the SIM connectivity generation and the battery in wireless devices. We fit 4G devices, and we tell you honestly when a device on your fleet is reaching the end of its useful life rather than waiting for it to fail.

Can a driver disable it?

A plug-in OBD device can be unplugged, which is why hardwired units are standard where the vehicle is not driven by its owner. Hardwired devices are concealed and generate a power-cut alert if they are disconnected, so an attempt is visible.

Do I need one device per vehicle?

Yes for live tracking. For equipment that only needs periodic location, one asset tracker per item is still the answer, but the reporting interval can be set much longer to extend battery life.

How accurate is the position?

Devices use GPS with BDS or GLONASS support, which in open conditions in Qatar means accuracy within a few metres. Accuracy falls in underground parking and between tall buildings, where the device buffers and reports once it regains signal.

Can I try one before fitting the whole fleet?

Yes, and we encourage it. Fitting one or two vehicles first lets your supervisors use the platform for a fortnight and decide what they actually want reported before you commit the rest.
